Kenya’s Political Mill of Betrayals

Kenya’s Political Mill of Betrayals

Betrayal calls surrounding Kibaki’s succession were recently triggered by Kangundo MP, Johnstone Muthama, who revealed publicly that Kibaki betrayed Kalonzo over an MOU the two signed in January 2008. State House was quick to publicly rubbish existence of any succession MoU with Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka – going to the extent of forcing Kalonzo to lie about existence of any such thing.

With Muthama vowing to “teach the ruling Mt. Kenya mafia a lesson” by mobilizing communal support against another Mt. Kenya candidacy, it appears State House has been jolted enough to revisit this matter – this time more aggressively.

It appears someone has unleashed propagandist scribes to start rewriting the clear history of perennial betrayals. It is now being claimed that no such political betrayal has occurred since Kenya’s history….no history of President Kenyatta ever betraying Jaramogi upon ascending to power…no history of President Kibaki betraying Raila upon getting to power…and no history of President Kibaki betraying Kalonzo upon a forceful (& bloody) hang onto power…

Knowing well that the ‘habitual betrayal’ theme may catch steam during the presidential run-off campaign…rallying a nation against this ‘selfish habit’…obfuscation and history re-writing has hereby commenced (see article below).

As expected, this elite’s mouthpiece – Peter Kagwanja has unleashed the first penning…hoping that a gullible nation buys this Kool-aid of lies and revisionism.

  1. ODM lauds Kalonzo for ditching G7

Mr Namwamba also asked Eldoret North MP William Ruto to learn from history before accepting coalition deals with some leaders.

“The late Jaramogi once said no Kenyatta! no Odinga! no uhuru! but that statement was not rewarded when Kenyatta took power. Raila said Kibaki tosha and his loyalty was not rewarded. Kalonzo was called in to save Kibaki government following the post-election mayhem but he has been left in the cold. So, Ruto should learn from history,” he said.

Mr Namwamba was speaking at Iten in Elgeiyo Marakwet during the ODM Reloaded meeting.

  2. meanwhile we are yet again reminded of kibaki’s house of cads (pun fully intended and no typo) – read for yourself

the President’s schedule is often altered at the eleventh hour, sometimes leaving key staff members in the dark. The chaos, some sources say, is part of a larger battle over the running of Government.

The conflict pits the President’s Private Secretary Nick Wanjohi against Head of Public Service Francis Kimemia, who doubles up as the President’s Permanent Secretary.

  3. From what I understand, Wiper Democratic Party have called the third National Executive Committee & Parliamentary Group meeting in less than a month. Kalonzo is still hopeful that Kibaki can tosha him especially after it becomes apparent that ICC suspect’s running as president and running mate is untenable.

Kibaki appears to prefer Mudavadi but even UDF are not so sure about this given that all GEMA MPs who initially founded UDF have all decamped to TNA, leaving only Jeremiah Kioni in the mix. Mudavadi must remain guarded and be willing to consider other opportunities or else face total banishment from politics.

But perhaps the most painful of all betrayals is that of the NARC dream where the late Wamalwa as Party Leader of FORD-K was promised that Kibaki would serve one term and then retire for him and Ngilu to form a formidable team (backed by Kibaki’s own political constituency) towards vision 2030. Kibak went ahead and failed us in delivery of constitution in 2005, then again stole the presidential vote iin 2012.

he has then went on a spree of splitting and separating voting blocks that were pro-ODM and a threat to continuation of the hegemony. Even Wamalwa’s FORD-K is now split into so many parties because Kibaki has promised each that he may just endorse them.

We should thus expect that all these betrayed parties may opt to come together and join up with ODM just to give the Kibaki group a protest vote. It is a possibility that seemed too far off just a month ago. But it may just happen within two or three weeks from today!
