you are right that mary wambui is an intriguing character. comparing her interviews with those of mugambi, mugambi comes across as more down to earth, reachable and genuine and a more affable personality.

looking at all of mary wambui’s interviews, anywhere where she is asked a substantive issue, she brushes it aside with feigned ignorance, feigned morality, feigned illiteracy and a fake modesty. check them all out, when asked about kibaki she says its private, when asked about the Artur brothers saga she says she is not a state officer, when asked about drugs, she says she does not take alcohol, when asked if her daughter was involved with the Arturs she says its private. There are so many such unclear issues.

in the interview on livewire, the IEBC chairman makes the claim that mary wambui went with police officers to the IEBC and intimidated staff. it is the same or similar claim that mugambi makes when he says his agents and supporters were intimidated by wambui’s police and state staff i.e police and state office staff or resources. yet she states that she is not a state officer i.e has no entitlement to state security or organs. yet she has them at her beck and call

shebesh says that when they got to the IEBC offices, what they found were police/state officers and then went on about not being “blond” but it appears that from the IEBC chair, the police officers were in fact wambui’s escort. talk about being blond, you don’t even know the person you are vigorously defending is a suspected criminal. what are her insider sources within IEBC?

the people of othaya have been bamboozled by this woman. her story is shrouded with more mystery and fewer truths than anything else. she has appeal, she is a fighter, but her history is riddled with massive deception.

i sincerely hope that othaya consituency is more informed than this and vote for mugambi who comes across as a more sincere personality. he is however weak and will be over-run by wambui.

      • tnk,

If Wambui was smart she would just melt from public view and go enjoy her money with her Kibaki in retirement. Sticking around in public may prove very dangerous for her.

The Ngorokos in State House are not going to be there for her after March 4, 2013. Those guys are going home and the small Ngoroko is going to The Hague.

In fact with the Waiganjo drama unfolding and Kibaki making the blunder of trying to impose Ndegwa Muhoro to keep the lead as head of the CID sooner or later even the Artur saga could be right back on the table and there will be no Kibaki to cover things up for the Wambuis of Kenya.

If I was her I would disappear out of sight and if anybody tries to drag me in these things I will plead the protection of a private citizen with no interest in politics. As an M.P she is going to be fair game. Some of these people have not internalised the reality that Kenya may actually experience a major regime change and the untouchables may find themselves in a completely new world order.

Wait till the Ndegwa Muhoro case goes to court which is where it is headed if Kibaki remains stubborn and sticks to the stupid idea that he can appoint his criminals to the police force and does even need to play his usual tricks with the PM. Muhoro was the official care taker of the Artur boys for Wambui and their State House operatives. Once the case goes to court expect the Artur matter to come up since it is one of the integrity questions marks on Muhoro. People like Wambui are walking on fire but they have no idea. That is the good part.

    • nokjnr,

Here is the nightmare. The deadline for parties to provide lists for all nominees to the IEBC was Monday January 21, 2013. There are no exceptions. The IEBC gave the parties upto that date to resolve their party disputes. There are no party disputes that can be resolved now.

Unless TNA submitted Wambui’s name to the IEBC on Monday Jan. 21, 2013 she is time barred. Otherwise the IEBC will not only to be breaking the law but also breaking its own regulations which would make a mockery of the process because all the other parties would be free to substitute names and IEBC cannot reject the new names if they accept Wambui’s name.

TNA cannot be given its own rules by the IEBC while other parties have different rules. It would make the whole process a joke. So if TNA submitted Mr. Mugambi’s name and now says it is Wambui who won the nomination then IEBC would have no choice but to remove Mr. Mugambi’s name and tell Ms Wambui that she is time barred and effectively TNA will have no nominee for the Othaya seat. If they open the nominations again it must be opened for all parties. That is what is called a level playing field and it is the duty of the IEBC to provide that to all political parties in Kenya or face lawsuits. We warned them, didn’t we?

This whole nomination fiasco is just beginning. IEBC set itself up for a legal quagmire by allowing the parties to have three extra days after the constitutional deadline for party nominations. This is going to get very ugly.

      • Adongo

Just to correct you. TNA submitted Wambui’s name but according to Wambui on camera she was informed that it somehow had dissappeared within the precincts of IEBC. That is the reason some Ladies including Wambui stormed the Building. Infact there may be some dire consequences against Shebesh, Mbarire and Wambui based on this incident.
Otherwise, the goal shifting business that Isaak has been showing is reason for great concern as you had rightly warned.

      • The IEBC is responsible for a lot of this mess we are witnessing today. They arbitrarily shifted goal-posts in a bid to help their TNA godfathers circumvent the new laws (PPA) and the result speaks for itself. Rather than being independent and neutral arbiters, they have helped subvert democracy. We shall all be watching whether IEBC continues subverting laws behind their closed doors.

In spite of all these flaws by IEBC (which has already received some stinging criticism from independent observers like the US Council on Foreign Relations and CSIS in Washington DC)…the Othaya nomination fiasco shouldn’t be blamed on IEBC.

It is bone-headed for Wambui and Shebesh to storm into IEBC offices when they know so well that (a) The the TNA-assigned returning officer in Othaya issued Wambui a provisional slip at the site of vote counting and sent her to get the actual certificate in TNA Hqs. (b) Upon reaching Nairobi, Wambui found no certificate.

If Mugambi got the certificate, it is not IEBC who issued it…it is TNA Hqs. that did so…. Mugambi did not break into the TNA offices to get it…

So long as Wambui challenges Mugambi’s run on TNA…IEBC has no choice but cancel both..(a) Mugambi for having lost, and (b) Wambui for being time barred, period! Shetani and dark forces are really busy in TNA affairs.

      • nokjnr,

If they submitted her name there is no problem. In fact it would beg the question as to why they were fighting TNA in that case. Mr. Mugambi did claim that he had been issued with a TNA certificate. May be he was lying. It would be terrifying if the IEBC is itself altering names. So we will see. If TNA is trying to transfer its problems to IEBC there is going to be fireworks.

I think the point I want to make is that parties cannot pretend to be resolving nomination disputes now. They have no mandate to do so. The last day they had to resolve nomination disputes was Monday. The only thing the parties are allowed to do now is to issue certificates for the people whose names they have already submitted. They have until January 29, 2013 to do that.

This idea of parties are still resolving nomination problems is a fallacy. Kenyans being used to fwaaa politics with no rules just swallow everything without questioning them.

Any disputes at this stage have to be taken to the IEBC dispute resolution Tribunal which is the only body allowed to make any alterations to the names submitted or to simply disqualify people. IEBC should have outlined all these to the public but the level of incompetency within IEBC itself scares the hell out of me. This is ECK on steroids. They have a very tough road a head of them unless they get their act together.

    • so now what will happen to the mademoni, are they going to move out of othaya? and also what about the officers that got transferred? somebody somewhere is going to get hit, hard, but for now congrats to wamboi

      • tnk,

It amounts to the same thing. If Ms Wambui’s name was submitted to the IEBC then she will get the nomination. If the list was altered before it was submitted and IEBC put another name, Wambui is toast.

IEBC folks have said they never touched the list submitted to them and I think they are telling the truth. It would be very dangerous for them to alter the list even if the mashetanis came knocking at the door. If that list was altered, it was by TNA themselves and if they did that they cannot bring any other name now. That is what Hassan already said. Wambui’s only alternative would be to go to the IEBC Appeal Tribunal on the grounds that her party has cheated on her and has now confessed and they are willing to get back together. That would be really messy because Wambui and her little pit bull, shebesh already picked a war with IEBC claiming IEBC altered the list.

I find it curious that Wambui and Ms Pit Bull there seem to have been in possession of info that Wambui’s name was not in the list. It is very possible that Wambui using her money and connections got somebody working in the office to peep into the list for them. Ms Pit Bull claims that somebody else’s name had been put there. If that is true this is going to be a quagmire. Also curious is the fact that according to the newspapers Wambui went all over town looking for the certificate and none was issued to her even after TNA belatedly announced she is the candidate. My guess is that there is a lot more about this than what is in the public domain.

Martha Karua is right in saying that IEBC should have simply published all the names as presented to them so that those who have complaints can lodge them. If the list is secret how do people know if their own parties have conned them and substituted their names. They have to wait to see who gets the certificate and the deadline for the certificates is the same day as the deadline for appeals with IEBC which is Jan. 29, 2013. Most parties are going to sit on the certificates until Jan. 29, 2013 and issue them at the last minute when nobody can make any appeals.

One of the big problems I see the IEBC is going to face is that many people seem to have picked alternative tickets as from Saturday and most did so while still members of the parties that failed to nominate them in the first place. Such candidates were double dipping and that is illegal. The PPA does not allow poligamy as far as political parties are concerned. You can only be a member of one political party at a time. It is like before you marry the next party you have to divorce the earlier one and there has to be documentary proof for that. The divorced parties are not going to give you blank divorce papers so you can just backdate them. Many of these candidates are walking in their sleep. They better not start running in their sleep because that could be very dangerous.

We haven’t seen nothing yet as far as party nominations are concerned.

The issue of oh I won the party nomination and somebody else was chosen is none of IEBC’s business as long the parties used procedures provided for in the party constitution. This is not a general election. Parties are free to do anything as long as it is within their own party katiba.

Political parties all over the world have strange ways of picking their reps in any situation. The Cuban Communist Party and the Democratic Party in the US both will tell you they are democratic parties but how they choose their party leaders and reps even in the national institutions of governance are miles apart.

In Kenya we like to imitate everything and always take the worst from everywhere. In Canada holding party nominations through a general election format would be considered insane. Riding (Constituency) Associations pick party candidates and there is nobody running around burning tires and buildings about that.

      • If people such as wambui can infiltrate the IBEC and get infomation that is supposedly confidential, then what is to prevent the same people from using the same tactics to alter elections results Kivuitu style?

Hassan and his little gang are making me very nervous with thir action. The stakes are higher for the Hague duo than it was for Kibaki. This means that they can use ant trick in the book to get their way and muthamaki as we know has no shortage of money nor does he mind lying and cheating.

The wambui thing must be looked as from a larger perspective. Its has shown that the IBEC cannot be trusted

      • mzee,

        right on the money

listening to the video clips of the duo (shebesh and wamboi – a wambui TNA mole), we learn that her name was on the list as presented. (who told her), then at some point she checked again and her name was not on the list (who told her – a wambui/TNA mole)

        lets suppose that is true

who was able to alter the names while in the custody of IEBC, and then alter back again (yet another TNA mole in IEBC)

so either she was being played by some conman or TNA have several moles at the IEBC. whch explains how dennis itumbi could get to leak ODM list long before IEBC published the official list.

IEBC should already start investigations, because as you correctly point out, what are these moles capable of doing, do we want to find out on March 4?

        over to you IEBC

      • Folks,

I was just watching an interview on a Citizen TV clip with Wambui’s rival on TNA ticket Mr. Mugambi Gichuki and all I can say is that TNA is playing very dangerous games and it is going to explode. May be tnk or anybody else can pull that video.

Mr. Mugambi was interviewed after TNA Chair announced the Othaya TNA ticket has been given to Wambui after the internal party dispute has been resolved in her favour. That is rubbish. TNA issued a certificate to Mugambi on Monday Jan. 21, 2013 and Mr. Mugambi is still in possession of that certificate and has no intentions of handing it over. Of course Uhuru could offer him some 100 million bucks or so to help him avoid the whole mess. It is seems TNA actually issued a certificate to Mr. Mugambi and most likely submitted his name to the IEBC.

Now after the uproar from Wambui and her mob TNA has been forced to back track or something of the sort. However TNA has already issued a certificate and if they issue another one they will have two legit certificates issued to two different candidates in Othaya. Talk about a mess.

Contrary to the noise about how TNA has resolved the matter etc, Mr. Mugambi stated quite clearly that Wambui has now taken the matter to IEBC basically accusing TNA of robbing her. Mr. Mugambi has been asked to appear before the IEBC as a defendant tomorrow.

The other scary part of the story from Mr.Mugambi is that he filed a complaint because Wambui had used the Provincial Admin, the cops etc to terrorize the people of Othaya who were voting for Mr. Muagambi. In one incident at Othaya Nursery school Wambui mobilized cops to turn off the lights and beat everybody out of the voting line. This was one of Mr. Mugambi’s strongholds.

Simply put there are dark and darker forces operating in Othaya and Wambui seems to have the upper hand with the darker forces against the State House dark forces and Wambui has been using the PA and the cops. Money and more money.

These Othaya lies are going to be exposed unless someone pays big money to silence a few people.

      • here you go this TNA digital party is amazing. they present wambui’s name in one list to IEBC and give the certificate to mugambi

        and everyone is happy….. 😀

  1. Hell has finally broken loose in TNA/Jubilee nominations
    —————
A number of TNA aspirants in Murang’a County who lost the recent nominations have dismissed the final results saying they were doctored in favour of preferred candidates.

The losers led by former minister Joseph Kamotho said the nominations were not “free and fair” as it was marred by irregularities designed to give certain individuals the party tickets.
    http://elections.nation.co.ke/news/-/1631868/1673260/-/p8uuqyz/-/index.html

  2. This tragic event of botched nominations and the forcefull transfer of administrative officers is an indicator of what could be lying ahead. These are the kind of actions that lead us to the brink of disaster and chaos in the year 2008.
A warning shot, that someone or some is/are willing to use all means to remain in power or gain power.
    Kenyans be warned !

  3. http://elections.nation.co.ke/news/DC-and-two-DOs-moved-after-hotly-contested-primaries-/-/1631868/1672842/-/s5igfkz/-/index.html

i just dont get why the CD, DO, OCPD etc were transfered.

were these guys campaigning for wambui, were they just exercising their democratic right and voted for her?

did they use their offices to support her?

and then just who effected the transfers? after the new constitution and ongoing police reforms isn’t their a national body independent of the executive that handles promotions and transfer of police officers?

what exactly is going on here?

    • I was also wondering why the CD, DO, OCPD, OCS etc were transferred.
Does it matter who they are supporting as long as they are not using their offices unlawfully?
Must they be punished for supporting or not supporting a certain candidate?
If these officials can be transferred just because and individual in not pleased with them then tell me, what can they not be asked to do? Eg can they be ordered to rig election?
This thing stinks to high heavens and it only goes on to affirm that the Kibaki government is the most rotten government since independence.
