Why Look Elsewhere

Why are Kenyans looking for terrorists elsewhere when they elected 2 of them to state house?

Using the language and the framework adopted by the United Nations General Assembly since1994 when referencing a terrorist act or acts, below is that collective definition;

Criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any circumstance unjustifiable, whatever the considerations of a political, philosophical, ideological, racial, ethnic, religious or any other nature that may be invoked to justify them.

Terrorism is thus defined as political violence in an asymmetrical conflict that is designed to induce terror and psychic fear (sometimes indiscriminate) through the violent victimization and destruction of noncombatant targets (sometimes iconic symbols). Such acts are meant to send a message from an illicit clandestine organization. The purpose of terrorism is to exploit the media in order to achieve maximum attainable publicity as an amplifying force multiplier in order to influence the targeted audience(s) in order to reach short- and midterm political goals and/or desired long-term end states.”[

Based on the above definition, can someone explain to me why Uhuru and Ruto who now stand accused before the International Criminal Court for rape, hacking to death, mutilation of person and ethnic cleansing of thousands of innocent Kenyan’s, do not qualify as terrorists?

For the good part of this year Kenyans have been terrorized and brutalized over and over by militia from neighboring countries and even have pieces of Kenya’s Sovereign land occupied by foreign military police, which continue to kill and maim Kenyans at will without any consequential action whatsoever being taken against them by the Country security forces.

Why do Kenyans feign surprise then, when we read about the laxity and manner by which Kenya’s security state organs have reacted to the now many terrorists’ attacks in the country? The word going around within those who know a thing or two about terrorism is; there was no foreign sponsored terrorist attack in Nairobi. The whole damn operation was stage managed to look like an attack by the foreign element of Al – Shabab but actually carried by some element within Kenyan security forces. If you doubt this, then ask yourself – Has any Kenyan official taken responsibility for their dereliction of duty? Has Uhuru Kenyatta asked resignation papers from any official of his failed government?

Could we dismiss those who strongly believe that the reason for this heinous and cowardly attack was to provide basis for Uhuru Kenyatta to declare state of emergency in the country, which in turn would give him cover to skip ICC trials?

I get confused when I see Kenyans scratching their heads and wondering why the government cannot give out straight answers almost on anything concerning this evil attack. People ought to understand that the leakage of secret, revealing laxity and the casual contempt the state security exhibited about the revelation of the impending attack is key to unveiling who the masterminds for the killings of the innocent were. One theory being considered is that, the contempt and laxity to the information about the plot by security organs was informed by the fact that there was actually none beside the imagined one that they were cooking up themselves. I am told what surprised the planners and the intended beneficiaries of this nefarious and heinous plan, was the number of casualties and the prominent people caught in the crossfire. When this came to light, General Karangi was tasked with the mission of wiping all the evidence away and that is what he did.

.They told us choices have consequences, way before the elections of March 04; but the primordial low energy groupies bathing in their tribal sack clothes of ignorance, ignored the warnings and went a head to cast their votes for the alleged criminals as custodian of state affairs. Is anybody still wondering why Al-Shabab if indeed they were responsible for this, is feeling embolden to the extent that they tweet openly and mock the rulers of Kenya?

I hate to disappoint people here but think about it, where did all the ransom money go, the money Al –Shabab got from ocean liners, cruise ship companies and from countries whose nationals they abducted? Well, that blood money has made some well-connected Kenyans very wealthy, as they received it from Al-Shabab and invested it into Kenya under the watchful eyes of treasury mandarins of yester-years. And guess where those mandarins are seated today? What about  their legally appointed fraudsters who oversee Al Shabab financial empire in Kenya, aren’t they known and roaming freely? Can we stop for a moment to consider why this information about these terrorists of Westgate Mall was regarded as a bother to the Kenya government security top organs if we really are serious?

Its like these “terrorists” were given a free hand by the state organs to plot, scout, and blow up whatever building they desired so as to create that notion of lawlessness which would necessitate the 2 accused criminals to demand a stay at home need from the United Nation Security Council, therefore forcing the ICC to postpone the trials. We wait to see whether the international community would be fooled that easily especially by this quench to kill tendencies which so happen to be the same accusation or reasons the two masterminds of the worst atrocities in Kenya are now before the worlds criminal court.

  1. Great article John.
I have come to understand Kenya and Africa in general, as a great theatre of absurdity and un-civilisation as that’s the only way one can make sense of the bizarre behaviour that MAJORITY, not minority engage in.
I read the other day in the Kenyan papers, which I call toilet papers, about Ruto warning corrupt officials and couldn’t help laugh imagining that the other day he was giving back a piece of land that he stole and his history is chequered with grand corruption. The toilet papers which one would think/expect are at the vanguard of informing the public would not even bother to highlight the absurd contradiction that Ruto is. Let me not even say anything about Uhuru.

  2. yeah you are right

what has been interesting is the choice of language

for instance the incident at westgate has been referred to as a “heinous crime against kenyans” by none other than both the suspects

yet they stand accused of crimes against humanity at the ICC which are also referred to as heinous crimes against a population

makes a complete mockery of everything

  3. For the most part a person with the lowest IQ living in some country not Kenya can still tell that 2+1=3, but for Kenyans the right of truth is dependant on who is asking the question and their interest and motivation in knowing that truth. What a sick joke of a country this place has become, where even truth has to be bought.
